As the world rapidly advances towards AI integration, with predictions such as Dr. Ray Kurzweil's forecast of the Singularity arriving in 2045, there is both great anticipation and concern for the future of AI. In this era where the development of AI is directly linked to international competitiveness, we are deeply concerned about the global inadequacy in the ICT learning environments for high school students. The evolution of technology has outpaced societal changes, particularly in the educational systems within schools, a situation that urgently needs addressing.
The AI/ICT online competition for high school students, "Singularity Battle Quest," first held in Japan in 2019, marks its sixth iteration this year. This competition provides a fair and equal learning environment free from discrimination based on age, gender, nationality, religion, ideology, wealth, disability, or race, as long as there is access to computers and the internet. Through our experience in developing and managing these competitions, we believe in expanding this knowledge and technology globally to contribute to the cultivation of AI/ICT talent on a planetary scale. Additionally, this competition aims not only to discover and nurture outstanding AI/ICT talents but also to equip all high school students with AI literacy.
We recognize that while society as a whole is evolving with technological advancements, the educational systems, particularly in schools, are not keeping pace with these changes. If educational frameworks do not evolve at the same speed as technological advancements, the next generation of leaders will be deprived of their benefits. One solution to this problem is the existence of the "Singularity Battle Quest."
The first world competition will be held in 2025 at the Osaka-Kansai Expo in Japan, where exceptional geek high school students from around the world will gather online, competing in knowledge, skills, and teamwork, fostering friendships and mutual respect. By providing equitable learning opportunities to high school students globally, we aim to support their growth continuously. We firmly believe that this will contribute to the development of AI/ICT talent worldwide, enriching the future of humanity as a whole.
